What’s Happening this week — Feb. 10 – 16 events

The AARP Foundation is once again offering free, individualized tax preparation for low to moderate income taxpayers, especially those 50 and older at Elsie Quirk Library. Their team of IRS-certified volunteers will help to make filing your federal tax return easy.

Tax preparation is done by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and a few Saturdays. Appointments must be scheduled in person at the library.

There are several items that you should bring to your appointment that will help the preparer to complete your return. Bring your previous year’s tax return, a Social Security card or another official document that shows the tax identification number for each person on your return, a photo I.D. for each taxpayer, your checkbook for direct deposit/direct debit purposes, W-2 forms, 1099 forms and documentation of any other form of income you may have for 2017.

For more information or questions regarding the tax preparation program at Elsie Quirk Library, please call the AARP Tax Aide Help Line at 941-281-5231.
