Welcome to the newest addition to the Sarasota County Libraries line up of databases, Creativebug!
Creativebug offers more than 1,000 award-winning online art and craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists. You will find projects you love for every occasion that will nurture your soul by learning new skills. New classes are added every day on topics such as, art and design, sewing, food and home, jewelry, quilting, knitting, paper, holiday and party, and kids. Creativebug also offers downloadable patterns, templates and recipes.
You’re more creative than you think. Give Creativebug a try and discover how you can fine-tune your craft or learn a new one. All you need is your Sarasota County Library card to get started. The classes never expire, and you can start and stop projects at your own pace. No pressure just possibilities! Find your creativity at the library!

Saturday
- Suncoast Writers Guild – Long Writers SIG meets at 10:15 a.m.
- Spanish Story Time at 10:30 a.m. For ages 3 and up. Bilingual stories, songs, and activities. Learn new words and practice language skills.
- AARP Tax Aide at 12:30 p.m. Free assistance for federal returns. By appointment only. You must schedule your appointment in person at Elsie Quirk Library’s front desk.
- Englewood Indivisible meets at 2:30 p.m.
Monday
- Forty Carrots Partners in Play 10:15 a.m. OR 11:45 a.m. For children, up to age 5 with a parent or caregiver. A free class for you and your child to enjoy together. Experience new educational activities, join in circle-time fun, meet other families and receive valuable parenting and child development information. Attendance is limited to 12 families per session.
- Great Decisions meets at 10:15 a.m. Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs and addresses eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing American’s each year. Sponsored by the Friends of Elsie Quirk Library.
- AARP Tax Aide at 10:30 a.m.
- Read with the Dogs at 3:30 p.m. For ages 5-11. Children are invited to read with certified pet therapy dogs from Suncoast Humane Society. The program encourages conversation and develops reading and communication skills.
- Monday Night Movies at 5 p.m. Tonight’s film is a chronicle of the life of 18th century aristocrat Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, who was reviled for her extravagant political and personal life. (PG-13, 109 mins.) Contact the library for movie titles.
- English for Spanish Speakers/Gratis Clase de Ingles para Hispanohablantes meets at 5:30 p.m. This class is for Spanish speakers, who want to improve their English skills in speaking, and understanding English, with emphasis on correct pronunciation. Students must be able to speak some basic English.
Tuesday
- Master Gardener Plant Clinic 10 a.m. – Noon. Stop in to get free answers to your Florida gardening and landscape questions. - Family Garden Club of Englewood meets at 10 a.m.
- Englewood Genealogical Society Midwest SIG meets at 1 p.m.

- French Conversation Group meets at 10 a.m.
- AARP Tax Aide at 10:30 a.m.
- Costa Rica: An Action-Packed Adventure at 2 p.m. The Yantorno’s will share their double adventure of swimming with the sharks and zip-lining in Costa Rica! Sponsored by the Friends of Elsie Quirk Library
- S.T.E.A.M. Program: Funny Money at 3:30 p.m. For ages 5-11. Learn math facts while adding up coins to win cool prizes. Learn new ways to play Rock, Paper, Scissors. Registration is required and limited to 15 children.
- Englewood Authors meets at 5 p.m.
- World Culture Club for Teens at 5:30 p.m. For ages 11-18. Bring your friends and learn about different countries and cultures from around the world.
Thursday
- Learn How to Download eBooks Class at 10 a.m. Participants will learn how to download Sarasota County Library eBooks using the Libby and Cloud Library apps. Bring your eBook reading device to participate. Registration is required and limited to 10 adults.
- Short Story Discussion Group meets at 10:15 a.m. Selection for March: “The Hitch-hikers” by Eudora Welty and “My Dead Brother” by A. Godkin. Sponsored by the Friends of Elsie Quirk Library.
- Family Storytime at 10:30 a.m. For ages 0-5. Interact and participate with your child in a variety of early literacy activities that include music, stories, movement, crafts and school readiness activities. Today’ theme: “Wear GREEN for St. Patrick’s Day!”
- Quirky Knitters meet at 1:00 p.m. to knit and chat.
Englewood Camera Club Lightroom Group meets at 12:30 p.m.
Friday
- AARP Tax Aide at 10:30 a.m.
- Basic Conversational Spanish Class at 11:30 a.m. This is a beginner’s class, for developing basic communication skills in the language.
