Elsie Quirk Library offers a full schedule of programming for children, teens and adults every summer. Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library, a variety of programs have been designed to stimulate imaginations, encourage creativity and support continued learning.
Join Chef Warren Caterson for a “Ten Meals in 10 Minutes” cooking demonstration for adults on Monday, June 10 at 2 p.m. He will be sharing healthy and delicious recipes that you can prepare in 10 minutes using ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
The Asolo Reperatory Theatre troupe will be presenting an “Around the World Theatre Workshop” for children on Tuesday, June 11 at 1:30 p.m. Children can participate in an interactive theatre workshop based on Jules Verne’s classic story “Around the World in 80 Days”.
On Wednesday, June 12 at 1:30 p.m., children will enjoy a musical and theatrical performance of “The Selfish Giant’s Garden”. Puppeteer Jerry Bickel with Bits ‘N Pieces Theatre will bring puppets to life to tell the tale of this story based on Oscar Wilde’s book “The Selfish Giant”.
Movies are a great way to escape the heat outside this summer. Teens are invited to watch a great new release movie on Friday, June 14 at 2 p.m. We’ll have the popcorn and drinks; you bring your friends and chill out.

Saturday
- Suncoast Writers Guild Long Writers meets at 10 a.m.
- Englewood Modern Quilters meet at 10 a.m.
- Spanish Story Time at 10:30 a.m. For ages 3 and up. Bilingual stories, songs, and activities. Learn new words and practice language skills.
Monday
- Forty Carrots Partners in Play 10:15 a.m. OR 11:45 a.m. For children, up to age 5 with a parent or caregiver. A free class for you and your child to enjoy together. Experience new educational activities, join in circle-time fun, meet other families and receive valuable parenting and child development information. Attendance is limited to 12 families per session.
- Summer Breakspot Lunch 12 – 12:45 p.m. For any child 18 and under.
- Out of This World Cooking with Chef Warren at 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of Elsie Quirk Library.
- Read with the Dogs at 3:30 p.m. Children are invited to read to a certified pet therapy dogs from Suncoast Humane Society.
- Monday Night Movies at 5 p.m. In tonight’s film a Senatorial candidate falls for a hotel maid, thinking she is a socialite, when he sees her trying on a wealthy woman’s dress. (PG-13, 105 mins.) Contact the library for movie titles.
- Pioneer Days Planning Committee meets at 6 p.m.
Tuesday
- Master Gardener Plant Clinic 10 a.m. – Noon. Stop in to get free answers to your Florida gardening and landscape questions. - Summer Breakspot Lunch 12 – 12:45 p.m. For any child 18 and under.
- Summer Shutterbugs meet at 1 p.m.

- Englewood Authors meets at 5 p.m.
Thursday
- Family Storytime at 10:30 a.m. For ages 0-5. Interact and participate with your child in a variety of early literacy and school readiness activities that feature stories, music and movement, and crafts. Today’ theme: “Outer Space Rocks!”
- Summer Breakspot Lunch 12 – 12:45 p.m. For any child 18 and under.
- Quirky Knitters meet at 1 p.m. to knit and chat.
Friday
- Summer Breakspot Lunch 12 – 12:45 p.m. For any child 18 and under.
- Teen Summer Movie at 2 p.m. For ages 9-18. Contact the library for movie title.
