What’s Happening This Week

Sarasota County Libraries are participating in the Asolo Repertory Theatre’s “Artist in the Jungle” Coloring Contest. The contest is in honor of Asolo Rep’s world premiere of Jungle Book this June.

Coloring sheets and submission forms are available at the Youth Services desk and in the Teen Area at Elsie Quirk Library. Young artists ages 5-18 may color, paint, collage or complete their artwork in any way they choose. All completed artwork must be returned to the library by April 12 and will be forwarded on to the Asolo Repertory Theatre for judging. Winners will be announced by May 4, 2018.

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded to winners in each age category, 5-10, 8-11, and 12-18. First place winners in each age category will be designated as “Artist of Distinction” and treated to the VIP Jungle Book Opening Night experience at the Asolo on Saturday, June 9, 2018. This includes four tickets to the opening night dinner and performance, photo opportunities and a Jungle Book bag and souvenir.

There is no limit on the number of entries that a young artist can submit. Visit the library today to pick up your coloring sheet and submission form. Official contest guidelines and rules can be found at asolorep.org/artistinthejungle. Find Your Creativity at the Library!
