What’s happening at Elsie Quirk May 8, 2020

Here at Elsie Quirk, we have gone from Rosie the Riveter energy to Ernestine Telephone Operator energy; instead of making masks, we are now making appointments for curbside pickup of holds, just as fast as we can. For the safety of the public and our staff safe, we are doing curbside pickup by appointment only; if you have items on hold, have no fear, you will soon receive a call from us to schedule an appointment.

We have been enjoying seeing our patrons, from a safe distance, this week as we swing into curbside librarianship! We hope you can sense the big smiles under our masks as we bring your books and movies to the curb. Even in stressful times, we like to have some Elsie Quirky fun where it can be found, and we invite you to find it curbside. Look in your curbside book bag for a game, recipe, or other goodie; keep an eye out for our intermittent drive-by programming, including trivia, a quote garden, and more; and feel free to share your favorite joke with our curbside staff—without exiting your vehicle, or while remaining at the Roll and Stroll Pickup table, because we like to laugh but following the advice of health experts is no joke.

If you’d like to place holds and get in on the curbside action, you may do so on the Sarasota County Library website, or by calling us at 941-861-1203. While our building remains closed to the public, we are available to help by phone from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
