March 11 – March 17 EVENTS
AT THE ELSIE QUIRK LIBRARY

Sarasota County Libraries are participating in the “Take a Look, Buy a Book, Donate” Campaign, in partnership with the Jewish Family and Children’s Service of the Suncoast. This campaign is to promote literacy among Pre-K through fifth grade with a special emphasis on reaching lower socioeconomic children throughout the community. All children’s books should be new and can be dropped off at Elsie Quirk Library or any other Sarasota County Library branch. The U.S. Department of Education continues to conduct studies which prove that children who read and own books in their home, have better reading outcomes. Please ask your book clubs, friends, social clubs, and family to donate a new book.

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County provides no-cost health screenings and referrals for general health and wellness. This week, Elsie Quirk Library will host the Health in Motion mobile services. Available services include blood pressure screenings, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, Diabetes glucose screenings, flu vaccines, and health education. The Registered Nurse (RN) also helps individuals who lack medical insurance find a medical home for ongoing health care through referrals to the Community Health Centers of Sarasota County. For more information, visit www.sarasotahealth.org or call 941-400-1412.
