Lemon Bay Fest Update

It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by and Lemon Bay Fest 2021 is here!  This year has been challenging, and forced us to adapt.  That’s just what we’ve done with our traditional festivities.  This year’s Fest is a little different, but it is filled with Zest, and our community will emerge as strong as ever.

Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Elsie Quirk Library and the Englewood CRA, we are able to offer showings of our two most popular films as drive-in movies.  These will be held at Dearborn Plaza on Friday (2/12/21) and Saturday (2/13/21) night.  You can register to attend and find the details through the links below.

You can view all the on-demand recordings, from mermaids of Weeki Wachee to Storytime with Miss Cris by accessing the Lemon Bay Fest website (bit.ly/LBF2021).

And of course, there are plenty of activities happening live at the library.  Share your favorite memory in the Friends’ Golden Garden.  Add lemons to the various trees throughout the library.  View the photo posters of local storytellers, historians, craftspeople, and artists.  Take a walk along the storyboard history of the Elsie Quirk Library.  And as always, find all sorts of materials on the history of Lemon Bay and the surrounding area.

Finally, it wouldn’t be a Fest without prizes.  You have two ways to win.  Everyone who completes our photo scavenger hunt wins a prize.  Find the clue book at the Elsie Quirk Library, Englewood Charlotte Library, or through the website.  Plus we are asking everyone to submit their best (or more) lemon dessert recipe for use in our community recipe book.  Everyone who submits a recipe will be entered into a drawing for one of three cooking prizes.  At the end of Lemon Bay Fest we’ll print the recipe book and make it available to check out at Elsie Quirk Library.  Submit your recipe online through the website or pick up a form at the library.  Thank you Friends for supplying exciting lemon themed prizes for the recipe contest!
