The Summer Reading program isn’t just for children and teens. Join us for a lively book discussion of the title, “The Year of Magical Thinking” by Joan Didion. This autobiographical portrait of marriage and motherhood by the acclaimed author, details the critical illness of her daughter followed by the fatal coronary of her husband. Didion documents her very personal emotions as she struggles to come to terms with life and death, illness, sanity, personal upheaval, and grief.
We will meet on Thursday, June 23 at 10:30 am in the conference room. Please inquire at the Reference Desk or Circulation Desk if you need assistance obtaining a copy of the book. Sarasota County makes every effort to provide titles in a variety of formats including large print, audio CD, eBooks, and downloadable audio. Participants are encouraged to read the selected title and join the group for discussion and further expression of their personal insights. All are welcome! No registration is required.
