July 29 – Aug. 4 EVENTS
AT THE ELSIE QUIRK LIBRARY

The Summer Learning Program is winding down. Children ages 3-11 are invited to come and celebrate their summer reading accomplishments at The Summer Learning Finale! Clowns Like Us, Alley #303 will be at Elsie Quirk Library for this celebration. They will teach and demonstrate a variety of clown skills including stilt walking, balloon animals, magic tricks, juggling, and more. With the theme of “Build a Better World”, the Sarasota County Libraries offered a full schedule of programming for children, teens, and adults this summer at each of the nine library locations. Programs included, Artists in the Libraries, workshops by the Asolo Repertory Theater, special guest performances, book discussions, story times, games, crafts and much more. Many thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library organizations, who supported the variety of programs that were designed to stimulate imaginations, encourage creativity and support continued learning.

Also ending this week is the Summer Breakspot Lunch program. Over 400 free lunches have been served to children 18 and under by library staff and volunteers this summer. Sarasota County Libraries partnered with Sarasota County School Board Food and Nutrition Services this summer to ensure that children received a nutritious meal when school was not in session. Friday, August 4th will be the last day for the lunch program at Elsie Quirk Library.
