Elsie Quirk was inspired by a small community library she visited while on a vacation in 1961. Elsie decided that this was just what Englewood needed and donated land, along with $10,000, so the community could have a library of its own. Click here to learn more about Elsie Quirk »

The Friends of Elsie Quirk enhances the operations and programs of the Library by encouraging community support and funding; providing quality programs and services for patrons of all ages and backgrounds; and encouraging lifetime learning as well as good citizenship experiences. Friends of Elsie Quirk purchase services, materials and needs which are not provided by the Library’s regular budget.

The Friends of Elsie Quirk would like you, your family and your friends to visit the Library (in person and on the web), enjoy what it has to offer and find out what it means to be a Friends of Elsie Quirk.

Friends work on projects to help make the Library a more vital community influence through extensive programs for all: preschool, young and older children, adults and seniors.

If you have time on your hands or are looking for something to do that will give you great satisfaction and a feeling of community involvement, be a Friend of Elsie Quirk and/or volunteer of the Library.

Volunteers are needed to do the myriad of tasks that must be done. There are many ways you can help. Whether it be weekly, monthly or for special projects, it does not need to involve a lot of your time. You will have fun, make friends and give the Library a helping hand.
